This is insoluble, so far as I can see. The caption is being printed by
xdvi, but the rotation is being done via PostScript code. xdvi can't
possibly interpret
ps: gsave currentpoint currentpoint translate -90 neg rotate neg exch neg exch translate
as meaning ``begin rotation''!
The only way I can see that this could be done is if the special looked
something like
\special{rotate: left}
... print the caption ...
\special{rotate: end}
or something along those lines, so xdvi could notice, and then actually
do the rotation.
I wouldn't hold my breath, if I were you :-(.
If anyone has any ideas about how to do this, I'd love to hear.
